Beautifully Retro
Music ..for
today's modern living
Do
you often yearn for something a bit different in music?
Are you tired of the same old formulas handed out to us
by the pop institution ??
Then it's time
to get a little
furry
and
wilde!!
We here at the
institute of finding original music that is an
anti-statement of the stereotyped, invite you to share
what we have found.
Is it silly? Is it
political? Is it tongue in cheek? Is it clever?..
well.. yes. At least it's sometimes clever - broader
than broad - we don't believe there should be limits.
And indeed, there are none, except those that man has
placed on man. "Hey, are we still talking about music
here?" I hear you say. Yes we are.. because music
inhabits the entire universe. Just look at Star Wars.
You can still hear the music out in space!.. I rest my
case.
Hi Performance - "because.. if
it's high, it's well above the norm". Lyrics garnered
from the solitude of the men's room one late studio
night. Jamming and having a lot of fun re-working
strange little gems from Alex's keyboard loop.. which he
through in the bin mind you. MV fished it out and here
is for the world to see.. or should I say hear. Jonas
was instrumental in getting some sort of arrangement..
as he
usually was and MV's obsessive gating,
un-gating, compressing, looping & bouncing.. and all
without the help of our new digital friends led to some
sort of musical formation. Such energy and enthusiasm
for the cause.. whatever that was.. just
creating me thinks. Thanks for the green ginger wine
Rosie, it helped enormously.. and the suit.. I know it
wasn't one of mine.
"It isn't Ulysses, neither lost or mortified, it's just a
sadist with a happy side.. high performance."
"You lock the spy in the
bathroom, you send Ruben to the shop, and then you attack me.. with
crazy kapok"
"It's immaterial".. exactly Jonas,
exactly.
It's a bit like Saturday
Night Fever only baggy. We could have used some choreography as
well. Al fell about the floor laughing when he saw this
final edited version.. and why wouldn't you. Ahh, those
old umatic machines, the days of early digiatl tape.
It's the halfway place between the old film technology
and the new emerging industry standard before it has
really come into it's own.. and to at least have
captured such silly antics in this retro gem.
A Cop's Job Is Never Done - well
it was over a few beers wasn't it? Turn on the machine
and off we go. That was the end of it I thought.. but
wait.. there's more.. next it is being remixed by
Henry.. no more slide guitar, it's all new again
with a more sleazy feel. But wait.. there's more. Now
it's a video.
Directed and Edited by Martin Taylor /
White Dot Films
OK.. it was a few beers wasn't
it ? and a crazy jam.. but wait.. there's more
now it's entered in the ISC (International Songwriting
Competition) in the best video category. OK cool..
but wait.. there's more.
The Video clip is now in the top selection. It didn't
win but it got an Honourable Mention. That's OK. It was
only meant to be a jam... over a few beers.
